NCGC Support for Watershed Protection, Watershed Surveys, and Flood Prevention

Acquisition and Processing of LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) elevation data for the Dull Knife Reservoir Dam Breach Study

  • The dam breach study will provide information for local emergency action planning.
  • NCGC provided assistance for developing the Statement of Work and technical specifications for aerial acquisition of the LIDAR data.
  • NCGC continues to provide quality assurance and quality control of the data collected.
  • NCGC is processing the data to create a mosaic of the project area and creating publication quality graphics for publications and presentations.
  • The data will be used for other projects such as the Kaycee, Wyoming, flood mitigation mapping project; the Clear Creek Soils Mapping Project; and modeling of runoff from coal bed methane extraction activities.
