About Resource Technology Branch

The Resource Technology Branch (RTB) mission is two-fold — to develop and investigate applications that make use of the USDA Service Center Agencies geospatial data holdings and support of these applications through infrastructure management. There are seven Natural Resource and Conservation Service employees and eleven Computer Sciences Corporation contractors supporting the RTB mission. Paul Fukuhara, an Information Technology Specialist is the RTB Branch Leader.

The RTB staff is divided into two teams – Application Development, and Technology and Application Integration. The Application Development team produces applications such as ESRI ArcGIS extensions, web tools and programs to support agency initiatives. Current, application development projects are web services for the Geospatial Data Warehouse, Wyoming EQIP Prioritization, Acreage Calculation tool, Remote Sensing Tool Kit, NRCS GeoHydro Toolbar, NCGC Ordering System, and various Internet/Intranet Web sites. The Technology and Application Integration team is supporting the infrastructure of the NCGC high level computer facilities and associated Geospatial Data Warehouse assets. This infrastructure consists of over 50 servers, massive amounts of disk storage and associated computer hardware that enables NCGC to provide data to our internal and external customers in a timely manner. The team is currently working to setup EarthWhere in assist NCGC in better management of its available data.
